About
Nestled on the Beautiful Columbia River we offer a full line of dental services for the entire family in a relaxing atmosphere with a million dollar view! You will get high quality dental work done in a warm, friendly, comfortable and caring environment.
Our patients love watching the activities of the various ships, fishing boats and wildlife on the river through the large picture windows that surround the office. You see the migration of bait fish, Sea Lions frolicking in the waves, Cormorants diving, and, of course, Sea Gulls flying about looking for food.
Dr. Katayama had been searching for the perfect place to practice and be able to enjoy world class fishing for years. When he came to this area he fell in love and there was no looking back. He has been practicing here since 2005 and can even fish off the deck at the office! He brings over 40 years of knowledge, experience and dedication to his practice so he can provide long lasting smiles.

5 stars Kathleen "Una" B Featured review
Dr. Katayama is consistently excellent. I have received dental care at Doc's on 12th for many years and am very happy with the professionalism of the Dr. and his staff. Due to neck surgery, I have special issues which affect my ability to be in the dental chair for extended periods of time. Dr. K. has always been cognizant of this and works quickly (but still impeccably) to assure my comfort.
Thank you for you very kind and honest review. We work hard to make all of our patients comfortable and well cared for.

In response to your comments regarding the iPad Kiosk and going paperless, we have an obligation to follow rules and regulations that our government sets. Every medical and dental facility is required to be paperless by 2014 so we are making changes early, not only so we can get used to it but getting our patients used to it as well. It is actually beneficial in collecting information direct from the patient (who would otherwise be filling out papers on a clipboard) and reducing mistakes that might be made when someone has to re-enter the information from the paper forms. You just can't read some peoples writing! Also, it takes the patient much less time on the iPad than it does filling out papers.
The front desk has always been the source for getting updates on patients health and medications via: clipboards and paper forms given to fill out every six months (as required by law). We find having that information in our system prior to the patient being seated for their appointment helps the Dentist and Hygienist review the information much more quickly which makes for less time in the chair for the patient! Who wouldn't like that? That is good customer service.
We have a great working environment and the view can't be beat! People have lives and in those lives changes and circumstances exist and are sometimes out of our control (especially the weather here). Not everyone stays in the same job for 50 years.
We are sorry that the iPad upset you to the point of wanting to go elsewhere but I think you are going to find the same technology in other dental offices and at your Dr.'s office as well. HIPPA Laws are driving this change so you can always talk to the law makers and voice your unhappiness.
We will still take cash and checks until the government regulates that too.
