I was very impressed with my first visit to Douglas Family Eyecare. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Dr. Chad Douglas took his time, explained things and made sure I understood what is going on. I am so thankful that I chose them to take care of me and keep my eyes healthy.

I was concerned going into the appointment as our daughter is on the Autism spectrum & can be a difficult patient. I was very happy to see how well the staff & Dr adapted to her needs. Dr was able to get what he needed using different tools & she was not upset . Overall it was quick & painless for her. I thank you all for your patience & understanding as she is not the easiest to deal with behaviorally.

Dr Chad is professional and personable. Comes across thorough and genuine during his practices. My only complaint is the glasses I bought. I feel like my Ray ban prescription glasses with my insurance was a fair deal, but I feel I got robbed when buy safety prescription glasses for my work. They didn't feel high quality but the frames where almost as much as my Ray Ban frames. There brand was 3m. I looked online afterwards and I could've got the same glasses with the same polycarbonate lenses and a 1 year warranty for under 125$. Even with the 20% discount it came to 255$ to me that's crazy. It feels like there is an upcharge on them because insurance doesn't cover anything. If I knew the frames that you guys sale for 140$ I could've got for 61$ I would have never have went through with the order. Just thought I was at the best place to get my safety Glasses. Service was great, great doctor but those safety Glasses were way overcharged and I would love to know why.

First of all, we do strive to set ourselves apart by offering high quality products including lenses and frames. After reviewing your invoices, we agree with you that you received a very good value for your frame and lenses with the Ray Ban pair using your insurance.

The lenses that we sell (Hoya and Zeiss) are not available online or at optical chain retailers. They are of higher quality, more technologically advanced, and provide clearer vision and less eye strain for patients.

As far as the cost of the 3M safety frame goes, the price you quoted for the frame is closer to a wholesale price. When comparing online, especially with safetys, we would not trust any online lab to make them. Hoya Lab is in the process of partnering with 3M to provide safety eyewear and insure that all standards are followed. There have been revisions of the Z87.1 Standard. The bottom line is that the frame and lens marking requirements can't be mixed and matched. We have safety contracts that start at $124 complete pair for single vision but depends on the frame chosen.

As soon as Hoya partners with 3M, we plan to offer lower package options for self pay patients.
