On 17/03/2016 I visited Fountain Tire Rocky Mountain House for a flat repair on my truck. When the service men had started on my vehicle the manager notified me that one of the small bulbs for my license was defect and if I wanted to have this fixed as well. I agreed and shortly after I was notified that my vehicle was ready.
When I checked the bill I noticed under electrical parts and service I was charged $1.80 for a miniature bulb and $23.00 for labour. To change this bulb would take less than a minutes, in fact you pull out the small fitting, pull out the defective bulb and replace it; no tools required.
The unit price on the bill for electrical labour was quoted as $115.00 and the manager told me he has to pay an elctrician to change this bulb, hence the high rate. At $23.00 a minute we would be looking at an hourly rate of 60 x $23.00 = $1,380.00!
The $29.00 charge for the flat repair was fair but adding on $23.00 for replacing a small bulb is an unfair business practise.
I will never choose Fountain Tire again.
