About
We are a full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing high quality, state-of the art medicine and compassionate care for your pet in the West Portage, Texas Township neighborhoods of Kalamazoo, MI. We are conveniently located at the corner of S. 12th St. and Texas Drive, across the street from Wedel's Garden Center. We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required. The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house x-ray capabilities and a closely supervised hospitalization area. At Friendship Animal Hospital we strive to offer not only sound advice, but also optimal veterinary care, thus allowing you the enjoyment of your companion for a maximum number of years. Our job is not only to treat your pet when he or she isn't feeling well, but also to help you learn how to keep your best friend happy and healthy. We also participate with the Kalamazoo County Education for Employment Veterinary Science Program, which enables high school students interested in pursuing a future career in veterinary medicine to work at a participating veterinary hospital for hands-on training and instruction.

As usual, the team goes above and beyond to ensure comfort for my dog (and even for me!). Never have I felt rushed to address my concerns about my pup and I always feel the entire team is engaged with our visit.

My pet was very well received and everyone was very good with her for her first puppy visit. My only concern was I was asked to wait to leave until the waiting room cleared which makes perfect sense. I was told someone who come get me when it cleared and we could leave and I think I was forgotten as it was well over 20 minutes and I finally helped myself. Other than that a great visit.

Thank you for allowing us to help Beau through his anxiety for his shots. It is super helpful to us that we take a 'hands on approach' to help him control his behavior when he is poked. And as usual, thank you for the excellent care at his well-pet visit.

It went pretty good. The first shot went well, but when she tried to put the shot in his left he cried and so when she had to do it a second time he was real upset.
I don't know if it was the shot or the 2 pokes to get it, but his left shoulder was extremely sensitive. When I picked him up to go up the stairs to his bed - because he just put his toes on the 1st step and cried, so I picked him up to put him in his bed - he screamed!
Held him close to calm him, but did se that when I picked him up- his right leg was good , but the left just hung straight down and limp. so as I was cuddling him to calm him I just talked to him softly and carefully massaged his leg and worked up to his shoulder and lightly massaged it. He cried so only did it a couple seconds, Cuddled couple more minutes then put him carefully in his bed that's on my bed and laid next to him petting and softly talking to him till little Zeus fell asleep. He sleep most of the day and I would pick him up every couple hours and cuddle him and talk to him then put him back in bed...he would go back to sleep. It was 5 when he was ready to get up. Then he started to act like Zeus again slowly.. Don't which meds were in the second shot or if because it took two shots or the area it was put - but Zeus had a hard time with it,
