While boarding the dogs for the weekend, it was communicated that they needed various shots/boots. This was fine as that was expected. What was not expected, however, was the bill at the end. When the dogs were dropped off, we were given estimate of the total, which first of all is somewhat absurd because the vet should know how much everything costs that we needed and was requested. So, a total of a little over $450 was signed off on for everything they needed. When we picked them up yesterday, the total bill was $579!! Not even close to the "estimate" we were given. Out of respect for the lady putting her cat down, I did not lose it in there. What was lost though, is our business. We told the girl checking us out that we were given an estimate and this is nowhere close to it and she said we "verbally" agreed to some additional charges. WHAT?! We signed an estimate for the services in their entirety. For us, North Austin Animal Hospital made a choice yesterday to no longer have us a client. While we've loved their services and care, this type of thievery at checkout is just beyond unprofessional. Another vet may screw us over someday, but it won't be this one.
