The team at the Shop was great. The only concerns and it's not to do with the team, but the online appointment system. I booked an appointment online for 7:30 a.m. 2/25/2022. Appointment confirmed. I got there just before 7:30 a.m. There is a disconnect between the store and IT management. Can business drive technology and not technology drive business. I would recommend let the human element drive the business than an IT automation system.

Respectfully, Lisa

On Friday 1/14 I went to the Shell Station located on the corner of Centerville Road and Liberia. I was told to wait in the designated line for the inspections and someone would be with me shortly. After waiting approximately 30 minutes, a man waived for me to pull into the bay at the automotive shop right next to the Shell. I do not recall the name of the shop but I asked if they were connected to the Shell Station and was told yes, that they help out with the inspections.

Upon completion of the Inspection I was told that my turn signals emitted white light and that the left rear brake had a leak. My car was pulled out of the bay and the gentleman at the counter (not the technician who inspected the car) told me they would have to make the repairs for the car to pass inspection.

It just seemed odd to for my car to have any deficiencies because I had my car fully serviced at the dealership in November 2021. I told the gentleman that I would not allow the mechanic to perform any work on my car and I that I would take it to the dealership. A sticker was placed in the lower left hand corner of the windshield to indicate that it had not passed inspection.

Today, Wednesday, 1/19, I had to take off work to take my car to Ted Britt Ford service center to check out the deficiencies identified by the Shell Station technician. The signals were fine and there was no leak in the brakes.''

I addition, they performed a full safety inspection and found nothing wrong with the car. The car passed the inspection.

I have taken my card to this particular Shell Station in the past but have never experienced anything like this. It is my position that I should be reimbursed for the fraudulent inspection and that the technician be properly admonished for his unsatisfactory work performance.

Manassas Auto & Tire, Advance Auto Care Center replied:

After speaking with the staff on site and reviewing the information given in this statement. It has been brought to my attention that at time of inspection there was break fluid spotted in the surrounding area and suspected a brake fluid leak, but not definitively (State guide lines state drips are not permitted) and in this case drips were present at time of inspection. The customer was showed while the vehicle was still on the lift for clarification purposes. As for the turn signal bulbs there is a film / dye that covers the surface area to allow the bulbs to shine amber by design. Over time this film / dye peels and permits white light to shine through. When this is inspected it is up to the discretion of the inspector in relation to severity. Something that can be overlooked because it is a gray area. We believe it our responsibility to ensure all customers that visit our facility are informed of all state infractions regardless of severity pertaining to their vehicles as to prevent any incidences on public roads . Any of our customers that may have suspicion on certain components, given that those components are not time consuming to access are welcomed to ask to have said component(s) removed for further explanation.
