I put a set of Michelin Defenders on my wife's 2000 Camry here in Santa Monica on Lincoln Blvd., a year ago, and was very satisfied with the price and the service. Now, I've put as set of Defenders on my niece's 2002 Chevy Cavalier--plus front brakes, alignment and some other work--and can't say enough good things about the experience.
They have two mechanics and two tire guys in the shop, and these men can do just about anything required to fix a car. I dealt with Eddie, and he was excellent; he consulted with me and made sure I understood what was needed.
What impressed me even more was that Vic, the manager, was so great. He used to own his own shop in Lakewood--which was bought out by Pep Boys-- and also worked a year for Pep Boys.
But Pep Boys does not allow a manager to give discounts and build a friendly relationship with customers, and so he went with American Tire Depot. He is now able therefore to work creatively with a customer and, if the situation is appropriate, give small discounts and make the customer feel that he is looking out for him or her. This makes you want to come back, again and again.
I sat in the front area for three hours while my niece's car's complications were dealt with, and saw Vic deal non-stop with customers and co-workers. He is not only knowledgeable, friendly and helpful; he also is honest and straightforward.
I must say, this shop, at least at this time, fully deserves 5 stars.
