Sticker shock best describes my experience. I expected to pay the $89.00 service charge plus a reasonable repair charge. Unfortunately, the final cost approximated $500.00 which I thought was rather excessive when considering the time spend to repair the problem. I told the service technician when he arrived that a faulty AC capacitor is probably the cause for the AC unit malfunction. Sure enough, the technician removed the AC panels and noticed a swelled capacitor. He went to his truck and found a replacement part and installed it. Subsequently, the AC was operational. The actual repair time took approximately fifteen minutes. Subsequently, I tried to reconcile the difference between the service charge of $89.00 and the final bill. The only thing I could conclude is the part must be very expense or the installation charge is excessive based on a minimum hourly rate. I checked the price of a capacitor at the local hardware store and determined this item is not that expensive. Therefore, I concluded the labor portion to repair the unit is excessive. Bottomline, I will be reluctant to call Stewart in the future and will look at other options.

Stewart Heating & Air was great two years ago when I purchased a complete replacement HVAC system from them. This weekend, however, they only came to rip me off. The initial charge was $87 to come out and see why my AC compressor wasn't starting up. After diagnosing it as a bad capacitor, the repairman told me, while the part itself was free of charge under warranty, it was going to cost me an additional $407 to replace it. I told him no thanks, just leave the part and I would install it myself. He laughed, said, "Good luck with that," and left WITH THE PART.

Unfortunately I didn't realize he'd taken the part until I went outside to do the work, five minutes later. I immediately called the office to explain the situation and, after getting ahold of the guy, they called me back and said he was half an hour away. He drove a half hour away, in five minutes. I was also told that he would be coming back to install it for an additional $160. When I said I just wanted him to drop it off I was told that the repairman had to do the work.

An hour or two later the guy shows up and spends -literally- four minutes installing the new part, checks that it works, then leaves with my old capacitor. Didn't even ask if I wanted to keep it. So all told I had to pay Stewart Heating & Air $247 to remove and replace two wires, two screws, and one capacitor that was supposed to be free of charge. Not as bad as the initial bid of $494 (visit + labor), but still more expensive than the $0 it should have cost me if they didn't refuse to just give me my free warranty replacement part.

On July 1, 20222, We were notified by Heather that our billing payment had been "blocked". She was very professional and waited until we checked into the situation.

In consulting with the bank in person, there was ample revenue to cover our automatic monthly coverage of #14.. The banker said it may have occurred because the billing had been issued a couple days earlier than usual.

Upon calling Heather back, we were able to update our records and the issue was resolve and a payment made. . Heather was very understanding and patient.

We are so glad there was no major issue for we value the service provided by Stewart Heating! Hope we can be timely scheduled for a checkup on our furnaces !
