I wanted to like the Aveda salon. I really did. I love the idea of natural hair color. I like the location and the salon itself. However, I had an awful experience there with two different stylists. The first stylist kept pulling my hair very roughly during washing the color off. Despite me telling her repeatedly that it hurts, she was very rough with my hair. When it came time to blow out my hair, she tugged and pulled on it so hard, that I had tears in my eyes the whole time from the pain. In 20 years of getting my hair done, I have never had such a painful and unpleasant experience. After that experience, I decided to give Canvas another try by booking another appointment with a different stylist. I don't know which experience was worse! The 2nd stylist was gentler, but the brushes they use when they blow out hair and very rough. It was just as painful when she was blowing out my hair. Despite me wincing constantly and telling her it hurts, she didn't make any effort to make the process less painful. The worse part was that when I got home, I saw that I had color all over my neck, the back of my head, my ears. Half of my hair wasn't even rinsed properly. I had to come home and wash it myself! There was no way I would be able to sleep with color still all over my hair. Needless to say, I won't be coming back to Canvas.
