Dr. Kathy Boehme is a wonderful doctor and human. I appreciate her care of my dog. She does it with intellect, insight and relieving humor when I am wondering if I am doing my part to responsibly care for an aging collie. Office visits are truly that, a visit to reconnect on how my collie is doing and what we can both do to make her happy and healthy. Dr. Boehme answers my questions with not only information, but with thoughtfulness and reflection. She is simply the best. The Drake Center seems to me, and other pet owners with whom I have chatted, to be quite expensive. In fact, with the ten or so people I have checked, none take their pets to Drake Center. But I moved to the area with a dog with problems that mystified a very good veterinarian where I used to live. Her main health issue is still mystifying. If you have the money, go there. I do not really, but I have been able to find ways to spread care out over time and make it work. I am still paying credit card bills for care and will be for some time. I wish the center would allow monthly payments of about a fifth of my total bill. I could handle payments well. As it is I pay credit card interest that could be better spent on care. Have caution if you go. Expect to pay a good deal more than you may have counted on paying. Care is good. Cost is crazy. I can separate those two things and know that Dr. Boehme is one doctor that is part of a group of doctors. I separate the care she gives from what it costs me. Again, she is wonderful. The vet tech, Peggy, is equally wonderful in caring attention and her patience.
