Eye Care Associates of Sarasota was founded by L.D. Perry, MD in 1985. Dr. Schwartz joined the practice in 1992 providing general ophthalmic care, cataract surgery and specializing in corneal disease and surgery. Dr. Schwartz is our only practitioner now, but he continues to travel on mission trips to the eye care hospital Dr. Perry started in Honduras before his passing. Dr. Schwartz was born and raised in Galveston, TX. He went to Texas A&M University, and attended medical school at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he also did his residency. His Fellowship was done at Baylor College of Medicine, Cullen Eye Institute specializing in Ocular Oncology and Anterior Segment Surgery. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Thomas Schwartz, MD has been voted one of America's "Top Doctors" by Castle and Connolly Medical every year since 2011, as seen in US News and World Report and Sarasota Magazine. (He has always been a "Top Doctor" to his patients). Our office prides itself on providing our patients with personalized, outstanding care. We understand that all of our patients are individuals, each with their own set of problems, questions and concerns. So we don't use a "cookie cutter" approach, the services and recommendations we give are based on each individual's medical findings. We will never "sell" you services that are not right for you, nor recommend any procedure or service which is not in your best interest.
