First, the proximity to parking and the fact the spa is located far away from the hustle and bustle from downtown Walnut Creek was a major plus for me. I typically avoid downtown Walnut Creek all together because nothing downtown is worth the stress and annoyance of the foot and vehicle traffic and difficulty finding parking. Nothing.
Second, the staff was friendly and quickly showed me to the locker room where I could store my things and enjoy the lounge before my appointment.
The lounge was perfect. I really loved the dim lighting and the super cozy and furry blankets. I really felt swept away from the stresses of work and mom-life. I was able to truly unplug and, for the first time in years, clear my mind.
I particularly liked the fact that the spa was tranquil from the moment I entered the door. I've been to spas where there is a ton of activity surrounding the spa rooms, even the tranquility rooms, and the only time you get a moment's peace is when you are in the room where you get the massage. This spa didn't have that annoying busy-ness interrupting the peace and quiet the clients are seeking the way other spas have, which I appreciated very much.
The massage practitioner was very sweet and professional. While I always tell myself I will treat myself to a massage every other month, I rarely do it because I'm not comfortable having a stranger work on my body while I'm in such a vulnerable position. My practitioner made me feel at ease.
After my massage, I relaxed in the lounge for another hour.
What a getaway.
