I have hired Z Salon (been to both locations) for my haircut and color for many years. After my experience with my teen daughter last week for an 11 am color appointment with new talent at Bardstown Road, I wil never go to Z Salon again. The appointment was for my teen daughter and I booked with a brand new color talent. The new talent was unable to offer suggestions or make recommendations without consulting with 2 or 3 of her colleagues. I expect the consultations with colleagues; however, we were berated because of the time that passed before she started color service. A "supervisor" colorist came to us with the new talent and told my daughter we were 20 minutes into appointment and that my daughter should/could leave and not complete service. We were 20 minutes into appointment because "new talent" did not know how to suggest/advise regarding color. I was mortified and after another 5 minutes of being berated and clearly made to believe they did not want our business. I stated, "it is clear you don't want our business" and the supervisor proceeded to tell us we should have brought pictures and that we didn't have to stay for color. I looked at my teen and said "bridge burning". She was almost in tears at which point I said "let's go somewhere else and never again for Z". On the way out, I let my favorite hair stylist know that I would never be back. The supervisor came to the front of the salon with several other stylists and tried to apologize--my teen daughter said it was a fake apology (teens know these things). It was too late. It is not my nature to burn bridges.. Fortunately for my daughter, I was able to secure an appointment for her at 3 on the same day.

It was a wonderful experience at another place with no confusion by colorist. They were happy to consult my daughter and perform her hair color.

After this experience, I called Z and spoke with Lorie to let her know of our experience. Lorie offered a free service but that would never make up for the way we were treated. Never again.

Lastly, while price was not an issue--I was trying to help my teen understand the pricing to help her learn to be independent. When I booked the appointment, there were 2 new talent individuals available at 11 and noon, respectively. I was told an all over color by the new talent was $45. Color is tricky from a pricing standpoint and I explained that to my daughter before her appointment. Our new talent told us the pricing choices for my daughters roots only was $80 and other choice was $170 plus depending on what she did. At a very reputable place in town, an almost 3 hour color service with style/balayage was $95. $120 total with gratuity. We clearly would have overpaid at Z had we stayed with the new talent.

I love this place. Have been going there for several years and have always had a positive experience. Very pleased with cut and color as well as standard amenities that are provided. Also quite reasonable pricing.

It was my first time at this salon and I loved it! Definitely my new favorite place to go in Louisville. I felt pampered and very fresh as I left and everyone was so nice and kept good conversation.

I was so impressed! My daughter came in for a haircut and she was cared for like she was their best customer. She got a complimentary hand massage, an eye mask, an essential oil treatment, and a lip gloss application. Her hair technician even curled her hair after her cut. I can't believe I only paid $30 for all this. I have been telling everyone to come to Z's.

I had a new stylist today... and I was very happily surprised. She was very attentive and made me feel good about being there.

I am also very happy with my haircut. She took her time and did an excellent job.
